Bail is a constitutional right to all citizens of the United States that have been charged with a crime ranging from minor traffic offenses to felony criminal charges. Under our constitution, a defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty in the court of law by jury of his/her peiers. Bail is granted by the state to a defendant in multiple ways. First in the form of a cash bond which consists of posting the full amount of the bail bond with the state to secure a defendant's release. Second is cash in lieu of bond which consists of posting 10% of the bail bond with the state to secure a defendant's release. Third is referred to as a surety bond which consists of posting a percentage of the bail bond to a Bailbondsman for release.
